I double posted when I saw the Dual 1019 thread. Elac Miracord 40A-Realistic version with the plastic base. I need help with arm & cartridge adustments. Is there a procedure for cart alignment? How is the skating adjusted, as I got the VTF ok with a SHURE gauge, but the arm just skates and will not track.
I just installed a 'STANTON 400V.3' with 3-5g tracking conical stylus(as per Kevin Barrett KAB) do I need a spacer, headshell weights or is the tonearm just shot? I tried to use mirrored cart alignment gauge, but the arm support is in the way. I'm giving this Miracord TT to my kids to use as they think it is way cool-an automatic TT. The trouble with doing nothing, is that you can't tell when you are finished. xstefanx 01:29:29 11/25/09 (1) - Mike27 10:32:13 11/26/09 (0) - pmsummer 12:09:21 07/11/08 (0).

I need help with arm & cartridge adustments., posted on November 25, 2009 at 01:29:29. Posts: 1 Joined: November 25, 2009 I realize that this post is entirely dead at this point, but I wanted to say that I found it helpful tonight when I brought home my newly purchased 40a. I've been searching for the most of the night for useful information on this TT. I notice that pmsummer has a manual for this and was curious if you were willing to scan this in as a pdf file and host it somewhere for public use.
During my searching tonight I came to realize that very few people have a copy of this manual which makes it hard for people like myself to understand all the functions of this table. I'm entirely new to the vinyl scene and I love the sound that I'm getting out of this table already. My stylus was a bit bent out of shape when I got it home, but I pulled it out and tried to move it back into place and it sounds so much better now, but was curious if getting a new cartridge all together would improve my sound even more. Right now I have it running into the Auxiliary of a cheap RCA stereo that I have and I have to have the volume maxed to hear the music at a normal level. Is this just because of the stereo or is it something that I can fix with a new cartridge? Again sorry to bring this thread back from its year+ long grave, but it was the most relevant post I could find with a few hours of searching and didn't want to start an entirely new thread about this table, but will if the mods, or OP find it necessary. If anyone has a pdf file of the manual for this table I would appreciate it if you could email it to me at, [email protected] RE: Any Elac Miracord 40A users?
I need help with arm & cartridge adustments., posted on November 26, 2009 at 10:32:13. Posts: 297 Joined: October 31, 2006 Does your RCA have phono inputs? (A lot of modern receivers don't.) The signal from a magnetic cartridge is too weak for an 'aux' input and needs to be equalized. A dedicated phono input has the gain and EQ. If you don't have one, phono preamps are available from $29 on up (and up.) A little more searching. Probably should get a new stylus (needle) too. Repairing bent ones.sometimes.
works but I would worry about possible record damage. Is there a manufacturer's name/model on the cartridge somewhere? Or someone here might be able to ID from a photo. You may or may not be able to find a stylus, depending. Mike27 RE: Any Elac Miracord 40A users? I need help with arm & cartridge adustments., posted on July 11, 2008 at 12:09:21.

I use a 40A daily. I aligned my cart (Shure M97xE) using the Vinyl Engine's protractor, and VTF with a B&O teeter-totter (1.5 grams). The 40A doesn't have anti-skate adjustments that I am aware of, so maybe you have shot bearings in the tonearm. I'll look in my user's guide/manual when I get home to see if it mentioned anti-skate, though I doubt it.
My 40A is a very good performer that shocks some of my friends, especially when I stack LPs!;-) - simul justus et peccator Thanks for the info on the Elac Miracord 40A.I'm looking for the single play spindle and., posted on July 11, 2008 at 11:22:33.
I've got 2 10'F's for FISHER Consoles and a 50H. Almost got an 660 yday. To answer your questions. Take off the Rubber platter cover. Insert index fingers (1 each) into the holes on either side of the spindle. Put thumb on spindle, PUSH DOWN with THUMB, Pull UP with fingers. It will POP OFF!
Be Careful It weighs about 6 pounds. 2.) 3 in 1 MOTOR OIL. Or Go to a Sewing machine center and get Sewing Machine Oil. For the Platter bearing (you have to dis-assemble underneath) use Lithium Grease. Mix oil into it 1 part oil 4-5 parts grease.
3.) Vinylengine.com has the 50H Manuals in German. Most of them are similar enough that you can use most any of the 'Miracord' manuals with minor modifications to your technique. They don't go to much into lubrication but I'd say, if it has lube or grease on it, then clean off the old stuff and renew.
Use oil for oil and lithium grease for the original.
